"THE BRANTFORD GUITAR ORCHESTRA" AN AFTERNOON OF CHRISTMAS FAVORITES Sunday November 30 2:00, Church of the Nazarene 347 Fairview Dr. Brantford
The Brantford Guitar Orchestra 08/11/30
"The Brantford Guitar Orchestra"
currently consists of 24 classical guitarists under the artistic direction of Patrick Feely and ranges in age from age 7 to 70. The ensemble has a musically diverse member base ranging from those just beginning private study, to those pursuing post secondary musical education. The orchestra performs music written primarily with a "choir-like" quartet texture, with five players per voice - bass, tenor, alto, and soprano, as well as a fifth part, written by the director, for beginner guitarists. The orchestra draws on repertoire spanning from the Renaissance to contemporary Canadian composers, and has a mandate of fostering music literacy skills, peer modelling and mentoring, the balancing of parts within an ensemble, tone production, positive performance experiences and the ability to follow a conductor. Today’s recital marks the orchestras debut concert with a presention of Christmas favorites and selected solos. Admission at the door is $10 per family, or $5 per person. Come and join the fun! We are always looking for players to join the orchestra. If you would like to talk further, call Pat at 519-756-2080.
Conductor Patrick Feely leads the B.G.O.
