The Brantford Guitar Orchestra 08/11/30
"The Brantford Guitar Orchestra"
currently consists of 27 classical guitarists under the direction of Patrick Feely and ranges in age from age 7 to 70. The ensemble has a diverse membership ranging from beginner students, to those pursuing post secondary musical education. The orchestra performs music written primarily with a quartet texture, bass, tenor, alto, and soprano, as well as a fifth part, written by the director for beginning students. The orchestra draws on repertoire from the Renaissance to contemporary Canadian composers, and has a mandate of fostering music literacy skills, peer modeling and mentoring, balancing of parts within an ensemble, tone production, as well as positive performance experiences and the ability to follow a conductor.
Today's recital will include Renaissance dances pieces, folk songs, Hymns and some Beatles selections among others. Admission at the door is $10 per family, or $5 per person. Come and join the fun!
We are always looking for players to join the orchestra. If you would like to talk further, call Pat at 519-756-2080.
Conductor Patrick Feely leads the B.G.O.
