Patrick Feely earned his Diploma in Jazz Guitar from Mohawk College, Fennell Campus, in 1986, where his principal teacher was Mark McCarron. In 2000, Patrick received the Bachelor of Music Degree from McMaster University in Hamilton, studying the classical guitar with Jeffrey McFadden. Further studies led Patrick to the Faculty of Music at the University of Toronto, where he obtained the Masters of Music Degree in Performance in 2003, once again studying with Mr. McFadden. During his time there he was twice awarded the Eli Kassner Scholarship for Classical Guitar.
An active performer, Patrick has appeared as soloist with orchestras and ensembles thoughout Ontario including the Brantford Chambers Players Orchestra, and The Grand River Trio. He frequently collaborates with flautist Christopher Walton as the "Feely Walton Duo," and with his daughter on flute or piano as "Duo Feely". This season Patrick will be in recital at Convocation Hall at McMaster University as part of the "Visiting Artists Lunch Time Series" and as a featured performer with the "Friends of Guitar" concert series in Brantford.
Patrick teaches "Classical Guitar Studies" with the "Faculty of the Arts" atMcMaster University in Hamilton, and is also the Department Head for guitar with the Brantford Kiwanis Music Festival. Many of his students have won scholarships and trophies in local and regional festivals, as well as prizes at the Provincial level. Several of Patrick's students have achieved Silver Medal Distinction through the R.C.M.E. while others have gone on to further studies at various Universities and Colleges.
Patrick has adjudicated at the Norfolk Music Arts Festival, the K.W. Kiwanis Festival the Toronto Kiwanis Festival and the Barrie Kiwanis Music Festival Patrick is a member of the "College of Examiners" with the "Royal Conservatory of Music" where he holds an A.R.C.T Diploma in Performance.
Mr Feely resides in Brantford Ontario, Canada, with his wife Denise, and their two children, Pat and Emilee-Mae.
